What is essential for me
At the center of my creative approach, form, sobriety and grace. A need for balance that the eye and the soul seek.
A certain vision of beauty in the quest for concordance between texture, colors and form.
Also essential in my creative process, the making and research of stamps to bring the clay to life; my favorite tools: the elements of the plant and mineral world.
And to complete the creative gesture, at the very end - after researching and applying the enamels - adding touches of matte gold to certain pieces, then cooking over a low fire.

First sources of inspiration
Very often the wonders of childhood are the source of the artistic achievements of adulthood.
For me, the pleasure of the earth was born from the pieces shaped with clay collected near the neighboring tile factory, in my childhood village in Alsace. These little pots, dried in the sun, then painted with all my childish fervor, the visits to the neighboring pottery village of Betschdorf, the cradle of salt stoneware in Alsace, the admiration of Hannong earthenware determined my passion for ceramics.
Privilege then to always evolve in the world of art; continuous exchanges with my lacquer sister, the painter and engraver Aymery Rolland and other artist friends.

Course
I pursued my two passions for several years: teaching the structure of the language to thousands of university students and creating unique pieces, with my hands in clay.
My knowledge of clay, essentially self-taught, was strengthened by practice with several professionals, including two Quebec potters Jacques Benoit and André Leroux.
My masters include Lucie Rie, Hans Coper, Daniel de Montmolin, Vincent Potier, Matt Fiske, several Korean and Japanese ceramists, all of whom share my aesthetic sensitivity.
My travels have also strengthened my passion, Asia in particular is an ever-renewed source of inspiration.

Create, that’s all
It is a need to return to basics, to a more natural rhythm of life, a stop from the frantic race, dictated by a requirement of the soul and the body which made me decide to devote myself entirely to creation. .
The body has spoken, it is often said, enriched by a whole life experience, taking up all the space, all the time to create, finally.
Transmitting this feeling through the pieces that I create with serenity and meticulousness, taking the time, is what drives me.
